The People's Choice 2016 Nominations Are In!

Finally, the time is here. The people can now begin voting for their favorites for the People's Choice 2016 Awards. They were announced recently at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles. Over 72 million votes were cast to determine which of last year's favorites are still atop the heap and which ones have been replaced by someone fresher.

Taraji P Henson Wins Best Drama Actress at the 2015 Critics’ Choice Television Awards

The 2015 Critics’ Choice Television Awards held yesterday in Beverly Hills, California and several TV stars turned out in their finery for the event. Taraji P. Henson won for best actress in a drama, in a nomination list that included Viola Davis for “How to Get Away With Murder'. I was kinda sad Viola didn't win, but happy for Taraji. I watched the show and her acceptance speech was hilarious as she talked about the risk she took by becoming Cookie and how excited she continues to be that fans love the character.

Other guests include Lorraine Toussaint, Queen Latifah, Tracee Ellis Ross, Chuck Lorre, Cat Deeley, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Terry Crews, Bryshere Y. Gray, Jessica Lange, Gina Rodriguez, Louis Gossett, Jr., Mel B and husband Stephen Belafonte, Roma Downey & husband Mark Burnett, Aisha Tyler and more. Stephanie Linus Wins Award For New Film 'DRY' at Geena Davis Supported Film Festival USA

Stephanie Linus’s upcoming new film “DRY” has just won its first award at the Geena Davis and ARC Entertainment’s inaugural Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) in Arkansas, U.S. for “Best Protagonists”. Coca-Cola and Wal-Mart presented the Bentonville film festival that took place from May 5th to May 9th in Arkansas United States.

The movie “Dry” follows a trail of Zara’s (played by Stephanie Linus) trip to Africa, her constant turmoil as a result of inexplicable horrors from her child hood, her experiences and heartaches while working with young girls suffering from complications from early child birth as child brides, against the backdrop of a rich African culture.

The winners of the #AMWCA2015 are now being announced at the Eko convention centre, they emerged based on the number of votes they have had in the past few weeks. Nominations for the third edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) were announced on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 and the voting poll started from then and ended on the 28th of February, 2015.

The Industry Merit Award was given to late Amaka Igwe, the notable producer/director whpo passed away last year. Kunle Afolayan and his cast and crew swept various acting and technical awards, as well as the cast and crew of The Meeting by Rita Dominic. In all, there are 27 categories, which cut across different areas of acting, directing, script writing, cinematography, costume and make-up and more. Kanye West Called Out Grammys Because of Voices In His Head, Will Boycott Awards In Future

Kanye went on the Ryan Seacrest radio show yesterday to explain why he rushed up to the Grammy stage when Beck was about to give his acceptance speech after he was announced as winning the Album of the Year award.

The closest the rapper came to an apology was to praise Beck for being a nice guy and well respected as a musician. Other than that, Kanye stuck to his guns, talked about voices in his head urging him to storm the stage. He even went further and said he would boycott the Grammys until they start to respect creativity. Read his rants below....

Beyonce Shows Off Three New Grammys In Photo Shoot With Jay Z

Beyonce won three awards last night - Best R&B performance and Best R&B song for Drunk in Love with Jay Z and Best Surround Sound Album for "Beyonce". With these 3 awards, Beyonce now has 20 Grammy Awards. Her husband Jay Z was not left out as he now has 21 Grammys, after picking up the two from Drunk in Love last night.

Beyonce celebrated with her fans by sharing photos on Instagram from a little shoot the couple did with their gongs. One of her posts shows her doing a little dance while Jay Z looks on smiling. Congrats to them! More photos below...

#OscarNoms - The Lego Movie Snubbed, Laura Dern, Nightcrawler Just Get In

The #OscarNoms aka nominations for the 87th Academy Awards has been released earlier today. Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel are the leaders with 9 nominations each followed by The Imitation Game with 8, Boyhood, 6, American Sniper, 6, Whiplash, 5, Interstellar, 5 and Foxcatcher, 5 nominations.

Selma is nominated for Best Picture and best Original Song, But David Oyelowo fails to make it for Best Actor like many expected. In the animated features which are my favorites, The Lego Movie was also snubbed. I also thought Nightcrawler would get more nominations. Oh well...

Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Ballon d'Or - FIFA 2014 World Footballer of the Year

Cristiano Ronaldo has just been announced the winner of the 2014 Ballon d'Or, which is the award to FIFA's World Footballer of the Year. Ronaldo beat Argentine striker, Lionel Messi and German goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer to clinch the title. Ronaldo also won the title last year, and most people agree he deserves it. Congratulations to him.

Various women shone Golden Globes during the 72nd annual award show Sunday. Maggie Gyllenhaal spoke for women after winning best actress in a mini-series for The Honorable Woman. Jane the Virgin' star Gina Rodriguez was so shocked by her win that she cried while giving her winning speech. Another win was by Julianne Moore for 'Still Alice,' for which she took home the best actress in a motion picture award.

The men were also represented as Kevin Spacey has just won the Golden Globes for the very first time, though he was as unemotional as Frank Underwood, the role that got him the win. Vincent Enyeama Shows Appreciation After Winning Nigerian Player Of The Year 2014

Vincent Enyeama made a lot of Nigerians happy in 2014 while playing the World Cup with the Super Eagles. Many tagged him the most valuable player, and though he missed the BBC African Player of the year, the talented goalkeeper has been recognised by Goal.Com as the Nigerian Player of the Year 2014.

The happy footballer took to his instagram page to share the news with the photo above. In the accompanying caption, he used the opportunity to thank his wife that he refers to as his diamond and other family members.
